Why We Run. . . Service Above Self

The Rotary Club of Alpharetta was chartered on March 23, 1983. Its membership is comprised of over 150 men and women representing a broad base of business and professional occupations in our community. We are committed to making our loyal and global community a better place for us all to live – placing “service Above Self”

We meet every Friday morning at 7:15 AM for breakfast, fellowship, and a program featuring informative and entertaining speakers representing a broad variety of interests Membership in Rotary is by invitation. Prospective members are adults of good character who are proprietors, managers, partners, or executives in their field. Rotary is a volunteer organization, and members are expected to willingly provide their time and resources to better serve our community.

The Mayors Corporate Challenge is the Club’s primary fundraiser. Your support of this even will help Rotary meet the needs of local charities such as North Fulton Community Charities, Drake House, Stand-up for Kids, Homestretch, Foster Care Georgia, YMCA, and dozens of others. Global points of impact include Polio Eradication, Literacy, Clean Water, and Humanitarian and Medical Aid.

Why We Run?

We run for our community. We run for our families. We run for those who cannot. In 2024, we encourage our local businesses and corporations to sponsor the MCC 5K and encourage their associates to participate in the 5K and other festivities offered on September 19th, to help those less fortunate.

As the Rotary Club of Alpharetta, our passion is our city and the people who live in it. We want to see families thrive and businesses prosper. We want to make an impact on the community we live in and to enrich the people who live here. Over the years our work has spread beyond our town and made a positive impact on families, individuals and businesses in our city, our state and around the world.

In fact, since 2014, thanks in part to our generous corporate sponsors, the Mayor’s Challenge alone has raised cumulatively over $700,000 for people in need in our local community and abroad spanning over 100+ charities and causes.

The Drake House

THE STORY: The Drake House came to us with a request. A single mom and her 5 children who were on the streets and needed a home. Our team of volunteers quickly gathered the funding and resources to renovate an apartment for the young family to live in. The project took several weeks. But we were able to completely renovate the apartment with new floors, cabinets, plumbing and even bedroom furniture.

DONATION: $ $22,261.31 this year, $4,500 last year

North Fulton Homelessness and Hunger Care Program

THE STORY: In 2017 we contributed $20,000 dollars to North Fulton Homelessness and Hunger Care programs. This money served Homestretch, Habitat for Humanity, Drake House, and North Fulton Community Charities.

North Fulton Lunch Program

THE STORY: Our outreach team found an immediate need for dollars to supplement the North Fulton Lunch program. The $2,000 contribution provided lunches for children during the summer months when school program were not in effect.

Special Pops Tennis

THE STORY: Special Pops is an organization that offers an adaptive tennis program designed to share the sport of tennis with children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Free of service, these programs are offered to all skill levels, including those who have never played. Year-round tennis instruction, league play, and tournament competition, to name a few. We support them through our volunteers and funding.

DONATION: $ $1,960 this year, $1,655 last year, $2,000 for 2015-2016

Help end Polio in Nigeria

THE STORY: In 2017 we were able to send $18,000 to Nigeria for polio vaccines for children.

Mortality and Morbidity in Kenya

THE STORY: Through donations, we were able to assist in improving the health of mothers, newborns, and young children in Kenya. The goal is to reduce the mortality and morbidity rate for mothers and children under the age of five.

Haiti Project

THE STORY: Our club visits La Gonave each year and we bring donations in the form of money and goods to help the Haitians create and maintain a better way of life. Our funding goes towards the purchase of medication and facilitates a mobile medical clinic, with a midwife, 2 doctors, and a pharmacist on hand to treat over 100 children and adults who would not normally have access to these services. The medical staff we sponsor provides De-worming medication (mainly for children), infection care, and severe heartburn care due to the lack of food. And much more. One man was in need of advanced treatment, so he was driven by vehicle to a facility an hour away, treated, and brought back to the village. He most defiantly would have lost his leg due to infection had the clinic not been held.
